The list was put together by Vocativ.com and not surprisingly, there are some Hollywood heavyweights at the top.

After checking nearly 1,400 acceptance speeches the site gives the number one spot to director Steven Spielberg. 42 people have given Spielberg a nod for his work and inspiration. A distant second with 34 atta boys is producer/executive Harvey Weinstein. Third place went to Titanic and Avatar director James Cameron. God appears on the list at #6.

Vocativ notes "the Academy" gets respect in 43 percent of all speeches, and Mom and Dad are recognized 28 percent of the time." However, those aren't counted because they aren't for individuals.

The top ten are:

1 – Spielberg, thanked 42 times.

2 – Weinstein, thanked 34 times.

3 – Cameron with 28 mentions.

4 - George Lucas, 23 recognitions.

5 - Peter Jackson, 22 times.

6 – God, thanked 19 times.

7 - Fran Walsh, 18 thanks.

8 - Sheila Nevins, 17 tips of the hat.

9 – (tie) Francis Ford Coppola and Barrie Osborne with 16 each.

10 - Martin Scorsese and Saul Zaentz all even with 15 thanks apiece.
