Actor Heath Ledger, 28, found dead

The actor remembered through his films.

Australian actor Heath Ledger was found dead in a Manhattan residence. Police suspect drugs may have been a factor in the Oscar-nominated actor's death. Ledger was 28.

Fresh off his buzz movie "Brokeback Mountain, " Heath Ledger was back in 2005 hoping to woo and wow as 'Casanova.' In this scene, he has met his match, falling in love with the beautiful and independent Francesca, played by Sienna Miller.

The actor will be seen as The Joker in this summer's new "Batman" movie, "The Dark Knight."

Ledger had a 2-year-old daughter, Matilda, with former girlfriend/fiancee Michelle Williams, who also starred in "Brokeback Mountain."

Ledger arrives for a screening of "I'm Not There" at the 64th Venice Film Festival, in Venice, Italy.

One of his most recent roles was as Robbie Clark, one of the Bob Dylan incarnations in 2007's "I'm Not There."

He played the hero, Sir William Thatcher, in "A Knight's Tale" (2001).

... and in "Lords of Dogtown" (2005).

Ledger's father Kim remembered his son as a 'down to earth, generous, kindhearted, life-loving, unselfish individual' who was 'extremely inspirational' to those who knew him.
