Actor Morgan Freeman experienced frightening moments Saturday night when the small plane he was in began to experience mechanical difficulties.

According to Fox 13, the pilot requested an emergency landing, and the plane landed at Tunica Municipal Airport, reportedly going off the runway and coming to a stop in an adjacent dirt field.

The  The Associated Press reports that Freeman was on his way to Texas to film a segment of the National Geographic program, "The Story of God."

The plane sustained a blown tire and other damage, but Freeman told The Associated Press that he and the pilot "landed safely without a scratch."
