Monaco has an area of less than 1 square mile, but it has a population of with a population of 35,985 and the world's highest per capita GDP at $215,163.

The palace of Monaco sits perched atop a cliff. The principality known for lax tax laws, though, tiny, is divided into three municipalities, the most well-known of which is Monte Carlo.

Monaco is a hotbed for the rich and famous and has seen many big events, including the annual Formula One race around the streets of the principality, but it hasn't hosted an event this big since the wedding in 1956 of Prince Ranier and American movie star Grace Kelly.
