Remember fallen soldiers with local parades and events this Memorial Day.

On May 29, the annual holiday will provide an opportunity to celebrate and honor the lives of the U.S. military personnel who have died.

Her are five free local events that you can participate in this Memorial Day:

Red, White, Bluegrass and Bach

Attend Suwanee’s annual Memorial Day celebration and watch as Fort Benning Silver Wings kick off the festivities by parachuting into the Town Center Park. Wear red, white and blue while indulging in food truck fare and listening to bluegrass and patriotic music.

Stone Mountain Memorial Day Events

You’ll have to pay to indulge in Stone Mountain rides and activities, but the popular Atlanta attraction will host a free Memorial Day program four nights in a row. Beginning on May 26 and ending on Memorial Day, attendees can enjoy live music, as well as a laser and fireworks show at 9:30 p.m.

Note: Attending the show is free, but you’ll still have to pay for parking. Daily parking passes are $15.

Smyrna Memorial Day Celebration 

The Smyrna Veterans Committee will host this event at 20th Century Veterans Memorial. View vintage and modern military equipment, before enjoying a show from the Georgia Army National Guard Band, Campbell High School’s JROTC and U.S. Air Force Honor Guard.

Dacula Memorial Day Parade

Gwinnett residents looking to acknowledge Memorial Day can head to Dacula for their annual parade. The Dacula Memorial Day Parade will kick off at 10 a.m. at Hebron Baptist Church and continue down Dacula Road.

Gwinnett Memorial Day Ceremony

Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners will be joined by the honor guard units from the Fire and Emergency Services, Police Department, Sheriff’s Office and the Lawrenceville Police Department to honor the fallen soldiers of Gwinnett county.
