McCartney, Mills leave divorce court happy

Paul McCartney was ordered Monday to pay Heather Mills $48.6 million to settle their divorce. We trace their romance through the years.

Heather Mills' marriage to Sir Paul McCartney began in Ireland, and on St. Patrick's Day she learned she'd get $48.6 million from her ex in the divorce settlement. They separated two years ago, after four years of marriage.

McCartney and Mills were honored April 20, 2001, in New York for their work on behalf of Adopt A Minefield, an organization dedicated to eradicating deadly land mines.

They were still boyfriend and girlfriend when they discussed landmines in a June 12, 2001, interview with Larry King. Mills lost her leg just below the knee when she was hit by a police motorcycle years earlier. Her organization has given away thousands of artificial limbs, many of them going to land-mine victims.

The day before their June 2002 wedding they kissed for the photographers outside Castle Leslie, in Glaslough, County Monaghan, Ireland.

A baby was on the way, they announced in May 2003. Their daughter Beatrice is 4 years old now. The court ordered McCartney to pay $70,000 per annum for their child, plus her nanny and school fees.
