Three big movie houses are skipping San Diego Comicon this year.
Marvel, Sony, and Paramount all say there’s a solid reason they won’t head to San Diego for the huge convention.
"It wasn't a knock against Comic-Con," a spokesperson told Variety. "The film cycles just didn't allow it." The Hollywood Reporter writes "Ant-Man, starring Paul Rudd, is coming out a week after the fest and Civil War is currently shooting, so footage wouldn't be ready in time."
They also point out Marvel announced their future plans at an event in October.
Variety reports another factor is the lack of promotional material Sony and Paramount have on hand.
However, the famous Hal H won’t be without some fun. The new “Star Wars” and last movie in the “Hunger Games,” series will be featured. In addition, on tap is the coming-out party for Warner Bros. and DC’s Justice League. Reports say Superman, Batman, the Flash, Aquaman, and a few surprises will be on tap.
Comic-Con 46 runs July 9-12 at the San Diego Convention Center.
