FRIDAY

Trey Anastasio Band

Phish icon Anastasio is hitting the road for a 13-date tour with his band that includes a return to the scene of their 2010 live album, “TAB at the Tab” (that would be the Tabernacle). Last year, the eclectic Anastasio earned a Tony nod for best score for “Hands on a Hardbody” and, for Record Store Day, released the limited-edition picture disc “Blue Ash and Other Suburbs.”

7:30 p.m. Feb. 14. $42.50. The Tabernacle, 152 Luckie St., Atlanta. 1-800-745-3000.

Jan Smith Band

It’s pretty rare when esteemed vocal coach Mama Jan Smith takes the stage herself, but that is exactly what she’ll do Friday when she and the Jan Smith Band play the Red Clay Theatre in Duluth. Smith hasn’t performed publicly as an artist in more than a year, and prior to that it was eight years since she played with her old gang of Peter Vogl, Michael Doke and Lesa MacGregor. Smith, for the uninitiated, has worked with Usher, Rob Thomas, Justin Bieber, India Arie, the Band Perry, Drake, Young Jeezy and countless other artists as a vocal coach. She’s recently branched out into production and artist development and is working with upstart country singer Alex Hall, a native of Gainesville.

With Carmen Ford. 8 p.m. Feb. 14. $15 in advance ($17 at the door) for regular reserved seating or $18 in advance ($20 at the door) for premium reserved seating. Red Clay Theatre, 3116 Main St., Duluth. 404-478-2749.

SATURDAY

Flogging Molly

The band launches its 10th annual Green 17 Tour — their countdown to St. Patrick’s Day — in Atlanta after a quick run through the U.K. with Frank Turner. The tour will hit 27 cities and bring with it plenty of revelry from the seven-piece Celtic punk rock outfit. The band’s most recent album, “Speed of Darkness,” bowed in 2011.

8 p.m. Feb. 15. $29. The Tabernacle, 152 Luckie St., Atlanta. 1-800-745-3000.

Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings

Less than a year ago, powerhouse soul singer Jones was readying the release of her new album, “Give the People What They Want,” when she was diagnosed with cancer of the bile duct and pancreas. She’s endured heavy-duty treatment, but returned to the stage last week. Known for a dynamic stage presence — as well as her tremendous pipes — Jones, an Augusta native, never does anything halfway.

With Valerie June. 8:30 p.m. Feb. 15. $25 (advance) and $30 (day of show). Variety Playhouse, 1099 Euclid Ave. N.E., Atlanta. 404-524-7354.

SUNDAY

Dark Star Orchestra

The well-regarded Grateful Dead tribute band is keeping on trucking in 2014. They recently celebrated their 16th anniversary, added a new member (Skip Vangelas on bass, replacing Kevin Rosen) and, if the plan holds steady, will surpass the 2,328 shows performed by the Dead this year.

7:30 p.m. Feb. 16. $26 (advance) and $30 (day of show). Variety Playhouse, 1099 Euclid Ave. N.E., Atlanta. 404-524-7354.

Livingston Taylor

The brother of James — one of the first artists to sign to Macon’s Capricorn Records in 1970 — has maintained a quietly steady career with nearly 20 albums of folk-jazz music and a healthy touring schedule of 80-plus dates a year. He’s also a full professor at Berklee College of Music — a post he’s held since 1989 — where he teaches stage performance. “Above all else, performers need to be what I call ‘ferociously curious,’ he says on the school’s website.

8 p.m. Feb. 16. $25 (in advance), $32 (at the door) and $125 (reserved table of four). Eddie’s Attic, 515-B N. McDonough St., Decatur. 1-877-725-8849.

THURSDAY

Tim O’Brien and Darrell Scott

A recent inductee into the West Virginia Music Hall of Fame, bluegrass wizard O’Brien has been working with Kentucky-bred multi-instrumentalist Scott for years. Scott is a top-notch songwriter who has written hits recorded by the Dixie Chicks (“Long Time Gone”), Brad Paisley (“You’ll Never Leave Harlan Alive”) and Travis Tritt (“It’s a Great Day to Be Alive”). He was also part of Robert Plant’s 2010 Band of Joy. The Grammy-winning O’Brien, meanwhile, is renowned for his work with a fiddle and mandolin. Last year, O’Brien and Scott released the collaborative “Memories and Moments.”

8 p.m. Feb. 20 and Feb. 21. $30 in advance ($33 at the door) for regular reserved seating and $35 in advance ($38 at the door) for premium reserved. Red Clay Theatre, 3116 Main St., Duluth. 404-478-2749.

John Driskell Hopkins and Coy Bowles & the Fellowship

As members of the Zac Brown Band, Hopkins and Bowles have plenty of room to stretch their artistic chops. But there’s nothing wrong with a little side play, either. Hopkins last year released “Daylight,” a collection of his own songs recorded with North Carolina bluegrass band Balsam Range. Joining Hopkins for his set will be local bluegrass favorites Dappled Grays. Bowles, for his part, started the Fellowship in 2004, which wound up opening the door for him to join ZBB. The bands will play two shows Feb. 20.

7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Feb. 20. $15 (in advance), $20 (at the door) and $75 (reserved table for four). Eddie’s Attic, 515-B N. McDonough St., Decatur. 1-877-725-8849.
