FRIDAY

Joan Baez and the Indigo Girls

Atlanta’s beloved Indigo Girls sounded awesome with the Georgia Symphony last winter, and this time they’ll perform with their backing band, the Shadowboxers, while Baez adds her indelible folkie touch to the bill, which will play Friday and Saturday.

7 p.m. June 14-15. $30-$64.50. Chastain Park Amphitheatre, 4469 Stella Drive N.W., Atlanta. 1-800-745-3000.

Mid Summer Music Festival

The two-day party at Candler Park will feature music from Neil Cribbs (4 p.m.), Reynolds & Williams Band (7 p.m.) and Coy Bowles of the Zac Brown Band (9 p.m.) Friday, then return for an all-day affair Saturday with Webster Humpage (12:30 p.m.), Stokeswood (2 p.m.), Connor Christian & Southern Gothic (3:30 p.m.), the Whiskey Gentry (5:15 p.m.), the Soul Rebels (7 p.m.) and Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros (8:45 p.m.).

4 p.m. June 14 and noon June 15. Free (those 21 and older can purchase wrist bands — $5 Friday, $5 before 5 p.m. Saturday and $10 after 5 p.m. — to drink alcohol). Candler Park, 1500 McLendon Ave. N.E., Atlanta. www.790thezone.com/midsummer2013.

SATURDAY

Hot 107.9 Birthday Bash 18

With 2 Chainz, B.o.B., Young Dro, the Hustle Gang, Shawty Lo, Trinidad James, French Montana, Stuey Rock and more. This year’s radio station blowout is focusing on a lot of homegrown talent, but as any past attendee knows there are usually as many guest performers as announced ones, so prepare for some surprises.

6 p.m. June 15. $10.79-$139. Philips Arena, 1 Philips Drive, Atlanta. 1-800-745-3000.

Swimming Pool Q’s

While they never reached the national heights of R.E.M. or the B-52s, Georgia’s Swimming Pool Q’s garnered plenty of attention in the new wave-pop-heavy ’80s. They’ll take a look back at the glory days with this release party for “1984-1986: The A&M Years.”

8 p.m. June 15. $15 in advance, $20 at door. Smith’s Olde Bar, 1578 Piedmont Ave., Atlanta. 1-877-725-8849.

Col. Bruce Hampton

With Parker Smith and the Bandwith. The Atlanta legend — who was the subject of the documentary “Basically Frightened: The Musical Madness of Col. Bruce Hampton” at last year’s Atlanta Film Festival — will bring his unconventional fusion rock to this outdoor soiree.

6 p.m. June 15. $18. The Lake Pavilion at the Inn at Serenbe, 10950 Hutcheson Ferry Road, Chattahoochee Hills. www.brownpapertickets.com.

THURSDAY

Heart

With Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Experience. Recent Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Heart will steer this natural pairing with the Zeppelin tribute band, since Ann Wilson is the only singer alive who can out-shriek the original Zeppelin’s Robert Plant.

8 p.m. June 20. $35-$56. Chastain Park Amphitheatre, 4469 Stella Drive N.W., Atlanta. 1-800-745-3000.

New Kids on the Block, 98 Degrees and Boyz II Men

It’s called “the Package” tour (wink wink) and these onetime teen heartthrobs (who, admittedly, have all matured into handsome men) promise to bring a bundle of their ’80s/’90s hits and moves.

7:30 p.m. June 20. $29.50-$93.50. Philips Arena, 1 Philips Drive, Atlanta. 1-800-745-3000.
