FRIDAY
John Legend
Though he opened for Sade in 2011, Legend is back commanding his own rooms and plans to take fans on a soulful musical journey that includes current hit “Who Do We Think We Are” from his new album, “Love in the Future,” as well as older favorites such as “Save Room” and “Ordinary People.” The piano man is also a new husband. He married model Chrissy Teigen in September in Italy. Somehow, that seems like prime fodder for future love ballads.
With Tamar Braxton. 8 p.m. Nov. 1. $46-$81. Fox Theatre, 660 Peachtree St. N.E., Atlanta. 1-855-285-8499.
SATURDAY
Michael Nesmith
Hey, hey, he’s a Monkee forever, sure. But Nesmith is also an incredibly established musician, having written songs done by Linda Ronstadt and Run DMC (for real! Remember “Mary, Mary”?) and recorded more than a dozen albums. His last solo outing was 2006’s “Rays,” but Nesmith — also a successful film producer — plans to sample his entire repertoire in concert. “Having decades of music and experiences to draw from allows me to present a concert that is full, dramatic and emotional,” he said.
8:30 p.m. Nov. 2. $32.50. Variety Playhouse, 1099 Euclid Ave. N.E., Atlanta. 404-524-7354.
Lupe Fiasco
The famously anti-establishment, socially conscious rapper from Chicago is all of 31 now, and he still has plenty of lyrical stories to tell. “Food & Liquor 2: The Great American Rap Album,” a sequel of sorts to his 2006 debut, dropped in September 2012, but Fiasco (born Wasalu Muhammad Jaco) is using this opportunity to preview his next album, “Tetsuo and Youth,” due next year.
With Stalley and Boy Illinois. 9 p.m. Nov. 2. $34. Center Stage, 1374 W. Peachtree St., Atlanta. 404-885-1365.
MONDAY
Fitz and the Tantrums
Over the summer, the soul-new wave-pop band behind the breakout hit "Out of My League" scored a plum opening gig on Bruno Mars' tour, which played Philips Arena. Singer Michael Fitzpatrick said in an interview with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution earlier this week that Mars is "the ultimate showman." He also had high praise for one of the band's earliest believers, Georgia native Sharon Jones (a "master performer," he said) and her Dap Kings, who brought Fitz and Co. on tour in their early days. Co-headliners on this Bright Futures tour are Capital Cities, of "Safe and Sound" popularity.
7:30 p.m. Nov. 4. $25 (in advance), $28 (at door). Buckhead Theatre, 3110 Roswell Road, Atlanta. 1-800-745-3000.
WEDNESDAY
Robert Glasper Experiment
Jazz pianist Glasper scored an industry coup when his 2012 release “Black Radio” nabbed a Grammy Award for best R&B album, beating heavyweights such as R. Kelly and Anthony Hamilton. But Glasper is already noteworthy for being different. His style blends jazzy flourishes with hip-hop beats, which is in keeping with what he told Down Beat magazine — that jazz needs “a big … slap.”
8 p.m. Nov. 6. $25 (in advance), $30 (at door). Variety Playhouse, 1099 Euclid Ave. N.E., Atlanta. 404-524-7354.
THURSDAY
Drake
It seems a lifetime ago that the Canadian hip-hop dazzler was a teen TV star (on “Degrassi: The Next Generation”). Now, with more than 5 million albums sold and hits including “Best I Ever Had” and “Make Me Proud,” Drake is still barreling forward: His new album, “Nothing Was the Same,” arrived in September and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart, with more than 650,000 copies sold. He’s joined on tour by loverman Miguel and Atlanta rapper Future, who is back on the bill after a brief misunderstanding with the boss.
7:30 p.m. Nov. 7. $49.75-$99.75. Philips Arena, 1 Philips Drive, Atlanta. 1-800-745-3000.
Cat Power
The eccentric Atlanta native released the critically acclaimed "Sun" in 2012, her first album since 2006's "The Greatest." But the tour to support "Sun" hit a few bumps when she canceled her European dates after announcing she was still suffering from angioedema. A June show at Buckhead Theatre also was quietly canceled, but Power now seems revitalized and ready to launch her tour Wednesday in Nashville (she also performed at a recent New York tribute concert for Elliott Smith).
With Nico Turner. 7:30 p.m. Nov. 7. $26-$31. Center Stage, 1374 W. Peachtree St., Atlanta. 404-885-1365.
