Wedding bells will soon be ringing for Atlanta’s own Jeezy and his talk show host fiancée Jeannie Mai.
The rapper/philanthropist and the co-host of Fox’s “The Real” got engaged on March 27 while at Jeezy’s Los Angeles home.
But that wasn't originally how he planned to pop the question, according to People magazine.

“Jeannie and Jay were set for a trip to Vietnam this April. What Jeannie didn’t know is that Jay was planning to propose,” Mai’s representative told the publication.
However, the coronavirus pandemic put a stop to those plans after world travel became restricted.
“Instead, Jay decided to bring Vietnam to Jeannie with a surprise quarantine date night in his home filled with Vietnamese food and decor.”
While Jeezy, whose real name is Jay Wayne Jenkins, hasn’t spoken out about his engagement, Mai has. On Instagram April 6, the host of the web series “Hello Hunnay with Jeannie Mai” shared a photo of her and her fiancé dressed to the nines.

“I want nothing more than to spend the rest of my life loving you....YES,” she captioned the image before thanking her fans.
“Thank you, everyone, for celebrating this journey with us. We are praying love over everyone from here.”
Jeezy and Mai began privately dating in November 2018 before going public in August 2019. The pair made their red carpet debut at a gala for Jeezy’s nonprofit, Street Dreamz.
By November of that year, the couple spent Thanksgiving together in Atlanta, where Mai socialized with Jeezy’s extended family.

"It was an unforgettable, surreal moment," she said on "The Real." "It was the first time that, obviously, we spent Thanksgiving together, and to be able to have an intimate dinner with his family — and his family is beautiful. They're all such lovely people and they're fun."
Jeezy’s aunt even made a special dish for Mai at her request.
“She came with Tupperware, chitlins, oxtails — and they were just for me!” Mai said. “They weren't for everybody, and she was like, ‘These are just for you, don't let anyone else have them!’ It was so wonderful to meet his family and be able to spend time together. It was special.”
