Gwinnett County's Jamia Nash got her week at the Academy Awards started by attending a pre-Oscar event hosted by Black Enterprise magazine. She will perform best song nominee "Raise It Up" during the telecast Sunday.

Gwinnett County's Jamia Nash got her week at the Academy Awards started by attending an event hosted by Black Enterprise magazine. She will sing "Raise It Up," the best song nominee from "August Rush," during Sunday's show. Jamia started preparing by finding the perfect dress. She had plenty of help as stylist Arturo Chavez, her father James, publicist Tosha Whitten-Griggs and mother Charlene all gave their opinions. Jamia decided on a multicolored silk halter dress with an empire waist.

Next on the agenda: choosing the right pair of earrings. Even at 11, Jamia recognizes the importance of great accessories.

A girl has to eat so she has energy to hit all those parties, and that's exactly what Jamia and her 7-year-old sister Olivia did.

Jamia took a moment to pretend what she would do in case "Raise It Up" won, using a vase of flowers as a stand-in for an Academy Award. Olivia watched her sister from a spot on the floor.

Time to get dressed. Tosha Whitten-Griggs helps Jamia put on a wrap while her father/escort patiently waits.

Rubbing elbows with big celebrities is part of Oscar week, and Jamia got to meet director/producer John Singleton.

Jamia has attained some celebrity status herself. Steve Levitt takes a picture of her with Michelle Wexler and Ally Levitt in the lobby of the Beverly Hilton Hotel. They are fans from New York who recognized Jamia.

Jamia looks like a pro as she does an interview with "Extra" on the red carpet.
