“It's hard to believe anything that is going on in my life right now," Stefani said in the interview. "Everything changed so quickly like overnight.  ... I'm so tongue-twisted right now ... I don't like talking about it."

Stefani went on to say, "I am embarrassed about it (the attention) sometimes because I feel so exposed but I am so grateful for that friendship that saved me through this year. It's unbelievable what it takes to get through stuff."

In the interview, Stefani covered several topics about her life following her divorce from Gavin Rossdale, including life as a tabloid subject and her hit song, "Used to Love You," being considered the "breakup anthem" of 2015.

Stefani also talked about the tabloid coverage of her relationship with Shelton and what she sees written about herself.

“The weirdest part for me is that it's crazy that people make up whatever they want -- and put it out there -- people that are really close to me will be writing me going “Is this true?”

Stefani joked about her answer, "Of course it's not true, Mom!"

Stefani said it was her spiritual growth that helped her move through the tough times this year.

“… I’ve been really exercising my spiritual side like a lot in the last  few years and obviously when you go through something so painful and so traumatic it forces you to get on your … knees and I think it’s like being in that place … If I can just be grateful, considerate and honor my gift of talent and be respectful to that, like, I’ll be peaceful and happy."

Stefani added, "If you just stay in the moment and don’t think about the past and regrets and you don’t think about what will happen in the future, it’s pretty great.”
