MARIETTA

“Miracle on 34th Street” at Earl Smith Strand Theatre

Originally a classic movie house, the Strand lives on as a multipurpose venue with live music, plays and more. Yet, it periodically goes back to its celluloid roots, and this time does it so in holiday fashion. The 1947 classic “Miracle on 34th Street” gets the big-screen presentation it deserves. On the heels of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, New Yorkers wonder if a department store Santa (Edmund Gwenn) may be the real deal. The young Susan, played by a pint-size Natalie Wood, leads the charge of Kringle believers.

8 p.m. Dec. 15. $8; $7 students, seniors and military with valid I.D. Earl Smith Strand Theatre, 117 N. Park Square, Marietta. 770-293-0080, www.earlsmithstrand.org.
