“Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Jr.” at Buford Community Theatre

The Red Phoenix Theatre Company brings the animated Disney classic to the stage featuring a cast of young, fresh-faced performers. Every budding, pint-sized princess knows the story. In order to save her father’s life, the lovely Belle becomes captive in the enchanted castle of the Beast. Although furry and ferocious, the Beast soon learns the definition of love, courtesy of his house guest. Expect overexcited fans to sing along to familiar strains, especially the rousing “Be Our Guest.”

Atlanta Undy 5000 5K at Marietta Square

Have you ever dreamed about standing in public in your underwear or even much less? Well, you’ll see oodles of runners pounding the pavement in their underwear while participating in the Atlanta Undy 5000. The race, which benefits the Colon Cancer Alliance, encourages participants to wear family-friendly outfits incorporating underwear. While some don tighty whities over their running shorts, others boast boxers and an array of undergarments. The event includes a 1-mile fun run and the 5K main event. It ends with an awards presentation and a cancer survivors ceremony. To register online go to the website and click on Atlanta. No time to register in advance? Don’t get your undies in a bunch. Last-minute runners can sign up on race day.

11th Annual Cattle Baron’s Ball of Georgia at Falcon Field

Boots will be scooting inside the airport’s Curtis-Rossetti Hangar. Things head way out West for this gala benefiting the American Cancer Society. Guests saddle up in cowboy attire for the night’s theme: Stampeding Toward a Cure. If you pony up for tickets you get dinner, and access to live and silent auctions, midway games and live entertainment. The latter features the Shawn Lacy Band, whose namesake describes its music as a conglomeration of rock, soul, country, gospel and pop. The group scored a spot on the lineup for Zac Brown’s Southern Ground Music and Food Festival, which dropped in September in Nashville.
