MARIETTA

“National Lampoon’s Vacation” at Earl Smith Strand Theatre

Word around the water cooler says that a “Vacation” reboot is on its way starring Ed Helms, and Chevy Chase will cameo. No need to wait to hit that holiday road. Just in time for Memorial Day weekend, the Strand will be screening the 1983 flick that started it all. It comes packed with creepy cousin Eddie, Christie Brinkley sightings and the dearly departed Aunt Edna strapped to the roof of the family station wagon. At 7:30 p.m. Ron Carter fires up the Strand’s Mighty Allen theater organ for a pre-show concert. The movie is rated R, so kiddies younger than 17 won’t be allowed without a parent or guardian.

8 p.m. May 24. $9; $8 for students and seniors. Earl Smith Strand Theatre, 117 N. Park Square, Marietta. 770-293-0080.

DULUTH

.38 Special at Wild Bill’s Atlanta

Cue the ’80s redneck revelry. Rock outfit .38 Special will likely fire off its familiar retro hits from the huge stage inside this popular suburban concert hall. We’re betting “Hold on Loosely,” “Caught Up in You” and Second Chance” make the cut. It may be enough to have you regretting you ever snipped off that mullet.

7:30 p.m. May 24. $25-$70 plus Ticketmaster fees. Wild Bill’s Atlanta, 2075 Market St., Duluth. 800-745-3000.

WOODSTOCK

“Whose Line is it, Woodstock?” at City Center

Fans of the improv TV show “Whose Line is it, Anyway?” may already be rushing to their DVRs. The reboot of the series returns to the small screen in July on the CW. Yet, before you go pushing buttons, consider this live performance featuring the iThink Improv Troupe. No, Wayne Brady, Ryan Stiles or Colin Mochrie won’t be there. But you can see how fast the iThink comics come up with quips and cracks. The ad libbing takes place twice this weekend.

7:30 p.m. May 24-25. $10 advance; $12 at the door. City Center at Elm Street Cultural Arts Village, 8534 Main St., Woodstock. 678-494-4251.
