First BET Honors handed out in D.C.

Lots of big stars turn out for performances and ceremony at BET Honors.

When Black Entertainment Television handed out its first BET Honors in Washington, D.C., Alicia Keys was an honoree for her musical contributions.The show airs Feb. 22 at 8 p.m.

Stevie Wonder performs at the event, which honors the achievements of African-Americans in various fields.

Gladys Knight sings for the audience. Washington's Warner Theatre was the scene of the ceremony.

John Legend sings. The awards telecast coincides with Black History Month.
