What would July 4th be without fireworks?

Hundreds of people packed Centennial Olympic Park Thursday night for the Salute to America celebration.

The highlight of the night was the fireworks show.

It did rain off and on, some chose to deal with it with homemade ponchos...

others went with the more conventional route, an umbrella...

and others just decided to have a little fun with it.

No matter the choice, by the time the fireworks rolled around, most of the rain had stopped.

The evening included a mix of musical entertainment, a special tribute to the men and women who serve in our armed forces and the South’s most spectacular fireworks show.

The program’s opening number featured Lisa Kelly, international singing star and former Celtic Woman, and Geoff McBride from “The Voice.” Local sister act Von Grey and an ensemble of Georgia high school musical theater performers helped kick off the night.
