"If you build it, he will come." A single sentence can spur ideas of not only a film, but memories. Memories spent on a field of grass with a bat, a ball and a mitt and your dad, having a catch on a warm summer night. It's the stuff that dreams and memories is made of. Now the movie that single line is from has marked 25 years in our film archives and in our hearts.
Ask many guys, it's one of the few, if not only movies, they will admit to welling up and quite possibly sheadding tears at those memories or dreams of their youth.
To mark the anniversary, Kevin Costner, who played the farmer Ray Kinsella, who carved a diamond out of the cornstalks, will join the cast on that same field used as the set for "Field of Dreams," Yahoo! Sports reports.
The reunion will happen, when else, but Father's Day weekend, June 13-15 according to the Des Moines Register.
The Register reported Costner will be there, along with Timothy Busfield, who played Costner's brother-in-law, and Dwier Brown, Costner's father in the movie and the character who is asked to "have a catch."
That Friday, the movie will be shown on center field. The screening and the rest of the weekend is free for spectators, but VIP access is being sold.
In the video announcement, Costner said the movie "transcends more than just baseball. It is about believing in the unbelievable. It's about relationships. It's about fathers and sons and the things that go unsaid for too long."
Bob Costas will emcee the weekend and Matt Lauer will lead the Q&A with the film's cast.
On Saturday afternoon, according to the official schedule, there will be time for dad's and their kids to have a catch.
