Tipple + Rose soft opening
Tipple + Rose Tea Parlor + Apothecary in Virginia-Highland soft opened last week with hours from 8 a.m. until midafternoon Tuesdays-Sundays. As of Aug. 18, the hours will be 8 a.m.-9 p.m. Tuesdays-Sundays with High Tea served 2:30-5:30 p.m. (For guests for High Tea, 24 hours' advanced notice is required.) The full-service tea shop from Doria Roberts and chef Calavino Donati of Urban Cannibals offers more than 100 kinds of brewed teas, plus bulk teas and spices, coffee alternatives, morning pastries, desserts and light fare. Canoe’s 20th anniversary
August marks the 20th anniversary of Canoe, the iconic riverside restaurant overlooking the Chattahoochee. To honor that history, chef Matthew Basford developed four different special "Dish Revival" menus that will be offered on successive weeks and feature "retired" appetizers and entrees. Kevin Gillespie’s TomorrowWorld
In its third year, TomorrowWorld, the three-day electronic dance music festival, has announced its first chef partnership in conjunction with chef Kevin Gillespie's Red Beard Restaurants group. Dubbed Tomorrow's Table, menus from Gillespie's Atlanta restaurants, Gunshow and Revival, and his Terminus City barbecue pop-up will focus on three elements: the festival's first sit-down restaurant experience; a similarly themed takeaway picnic basket service; and an intimate, seated 10-course dinner cooked and served by Gillespie and friends on Saturday night of the festival. Farmer Fund launch party
The Farmer Fund, an Atlanta nonprofit founded this year to serve metro area farmers facing natural disasters, will host a launch party with local chefs and breweries at 6 p.m. Aug. 10 at the Cathedral of St. Philip. In addition to beer, food and music, the event will reveal the 2016 Farmer Fund Calendar, featuring local Atlanta chefs posing in nothing but Hedley & Bennett aprons.
