Are you nuts for peanuts? Then there might be a mini road trip in your future.

The Annual Georgia Peanut Festival, which kicks off this weekend in Sylvester, the home of Peter Pan peanut butter, is a celebration of all things peanut. Activities include a peanut parade, arts and crafts vendors, kids activities, live music and all sorts of peanut treats.

If you're getting excited, here are some facts to get you in a peanut state of mind:

-The Georgia Peanut Festival is the world record holder for making the World’s Largest Peanut Butter Sandwich, 14 foot wide by 14 foot long and 2,650 lbs in 1987.

-Last year Georgia produced 57 percent of peanuts in the U.S., with about half being used to make peanut butter, according to Georgia Peanut Commission and the Online Journal Almanac.

- People in the South are more likely than other regions of the U.S. to always have a jar of peanut butter in their kitchen (61 percent), according to a study conducted by Peter Pan Simply Ground.

- 37 percent of people look for a brand of peanut butter they can eat directly out of the jar.
