Rosa’s Pizza in Johns Creek is the newest spinoff of the popular, family-owned joints in Atlanta and Marietta.

Thin crust, New York-style pizza served by the slice or whole pie at budget-friendly prices has made the downtown location a favorite for more than 20 years.

In Johns Creek, managing partner Mike Agee is sticking with that winning formula, along with Italian ices and beer specials.

The look: Situated in an industrial-style building on Jones Bridge Road, the former Ray's Pizza space has been updated with brick accents on the walls and a sports bar complement of flat screen TVs. Order at the counter and grab a table in the spacious dining room or out on the front patio. For full service and a more convivial vibe, grab a seat at the bar.

The scene: On a recent Saturday afternoon, Rosa's was doing a brisk take-out pizza business. A few regulars stopped in for a slice and a glass of wine at the bar. And in the dining room, it was a mix of families with small children and groups watching college football and ordering pitchers of beer.

The menu: Specialty pies include Joe's Pizza, a red sauce-less combo of chicken, mozzarella and Parmesan cheese with ranch or honey mustard dressing. Pasta dishes include spaghetti with marinara, meatballs or sausage, and baked ziti or ravioli. Heroes, calzones, salads and desserts round out the menu.

The drinks: Six taps with beer by glass ($3.50/$4) or pitcher ($9.75/$13.75) feature the likes of Blue Moon, Sweetwater 420 and Terrapin Hop Karma. New Belgium Hoptober ($4) was among the offerings by the bottle. There's a small selection red and white wines by the glass ($5) or bottle ($20).

The extras: Rosa's offers call-ahead take-out on all menu items. Look for $6 daily lunch specials, nightly family dinner specials, $2.50 beer specials on Sundays, and trivia on Wednesdays.
