Paying your restaurant tab can come with a sense of satisfaction during a dinner outing next week.

25 percent of proceeds from dining out at participating restaurants such as Bartaco, No Mas! Cantina and Six Feet Under will benefit local organization Open Hand on April 20.

According to their website, Open Hand delivers meals to people with chronic illnesses in an effort to “eliminate disability and untimely death due to nutrition-sensitive chronic disease.” Michael Edwards founded the program nearly three decades ago when he and his friends began providing meals to his neighbors who had HIV/AIDS.

Dining out for Life, an annual fundraising event that takes place in many cities throughout the U.S., was created by ActionAIDS volunteers in Philly in 1991.

More than $4 million is raised for local organizations annually during Dining out for Life.

The organization has teamed up with celebrities such as Food Network's Ted Allen and actress Pam Grier to promote the event.
