Victory Headwaters Pale Ale
Victory Brewing Co., Downington, PA
$9.99/six-pack at metro beverage stores; also on draft at select beer bars.
Profile: Is it crazy that since opening in 1996 Victory has never brewed and bottled a year-round pale ale? Or is it more crazy that Victory partners-brewmasters Bill Covaleski and Ron Barchet finally decided to do that in honor of their brewery's 15th anniversary?
Either way, Headwaters Pale Ale is a solid addition to a portfolio that includes such stellar offerings as Prima Pils, Hop Devil IPA and Storm King Imperial Stout. Brewed with German malts and a melange of whole flower hops, including Citra and Centennial, it’s crisp, aromatic and exceedingly easy to drink, with all the subtle elegance and balanced complexity you’d expect from Victory.
Pair with: Like most American pale ales, Headwaters makes a versatile match for all sorts of bright, spicy foods, including Mexican, Thai and Vietnamese, or a boon companion for everyday pub grub.
