Celebs deal with unwanted admirers

It's one of the pains of fame -- admirers who lavish excessive, unwanted attention on a celebrity. John Cusack is the latest. Others: Tyra Banks, Gwynith Paltrow, Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes, Madonna, Michael Ray, Sheryl Crow, Nicole Kidman, Conan O'Brien.

It's one of the pains of fame -- admirers who lavish excessive, unwanted attention on a celebrity. In court papers Halle Berry said that Greg Broussard believed he was engaged to her and that her staff was keeping them apart. A judge in 2004 ordered Broussard, reportedly a former Navy Seal, to stay away from her. And more recently in 2011, TMZ reports police arrested Richard Franco who had been watching Berry from her own back yard. Other celebrities have had to deal with similar experiences.

French actress Marion Cotillard was the target of a New York City woman who faces charges that she sent threatening email messages and videos to a Web site dedicated to Cotillard. FBI agents say in a court filing that Teresa Yuan, of Queens, sent a series of spooky messages in July that included ramblings about wanting to play Russian Roulette with the actress.

James Rainford, an alleged stalker of Paris Hilton, was arrested in July 2011 after he was spotted peering into Hilton's Malibu home, violating a restraining order that prohibits him from being within 200 yards of the socialite or her home. The same man attacked Hilton and then-boyfriend Cy Waits outside a L.A. courthouse in April.

In May 2011, Lindsay Lohan filed for legal protection against a man she claimed in court documents contacted her for two years "by unwanted and unsolicited phone calls and text messages numbering over one hundred, in which he has expressed delusional thoughts and irrational feelings about his belief that we are in a relationship."

Madonna. The Material Girl has had many stalkers, including an ice pick-wielding former firefighter who waited outside her Manhattan home in 2010 and a man who broke into her London home earlier this year. In another case, a jury found Robert Dewey Hoskins guilty of stalking Madonna and of making terrorist threats against her, her bodyguard and her assistant. He had said that he would marry her and would 'slice her throat from ear to ear.'

Actress/singer Miley Cyrus has been stalked by a 53-year-old Georgia resident named Mark Owen McLeod, according to police on Tybee Island.

Prosecutors in New York say Jack Jordan, 37, once tried to get into Uma Thurman's trailer on a Manhattan movie set and appeared several times at her home. His lawyer was quoted as saying that Jordan has schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. He was convicted and sent to prison for a year.

David Caruso. Austrian authorities took months to track down a woman who failed to appear for her trial in 2008, on charges of stalking and threatening to kill the 'CSI: Miami' star. She is now in custody awaiting trial.

John Cusack. On April 2, 2008,Emily Leatherman, who was ordered to stay away from John Cusack, was charged with a felony count of stalking the actor and misdemeanor counts of disobeying a court restraining order. She could face up to three years in jail. .

Katie Holmes has said she hasn't changed since marrying Tom Cruise...

Tyra Banks used her experience as a supermodel to educate herself on other aspects of the entertainment world. She now is the host of "America's Next Top Model" and "The Tyra Banks Show," owned by her company Bankable Productions.

Gwyneth Paltrow. Pizza delivery man Dante Michael Soiu was convicted of stalking Gwyneth Paltrow and sentenced to a high-security psychiatric facility in 2000. He sent hundreds of letters and visited her parents' home multiple times.

Conan O'Brien. The Rev. David Ajemian, a priest in the Archdiocese of Boston, referred to himself as "your priest stalker" in one note to the talk show host, and tried to force his way into a taping. In late 2007 he was declared fit to stand trial even though he's been treated for psychological issues.

Brad Pitt. A judge sentenced Athena M Rolando to three years' probation in 1999 and warned her to keep away from Pitt. While he was away she crawled into his home through a window, slept in his bed and tried on his clothes.

Anna Kournikova (shown with Elton John). In 2005 William Lepeska admitted to swimming nude across Biscayne Bay, bound for the tennis player's Florida home. He came ashore at the wrong house. A judge told him to stay away from Kournikova. He had previously served time for stabbing a college student.
