Actress Mackenzie Phillips alleged in her 2009 memoir that her father, singer John Phillips of The Mamas and the Papas, regularly plied her with drugs when she was growing up and started a sexual relationship with her when she was 19.

Michael Lohan, father of Lindsay, has a rap sheet almost as long as his daughter's -- he has been arrested multiple times since 1990 for charges including insider trading, DUI and attempted assault. He speaks often in the press about Lindsay's troubles, despite her repeated attempts to distance herself from him.

Dina Lohan, mother of Lindsay, is frequently photographed partying with her daughter, who has a history of drug and alcohol abuse. She has also come under scrutiny for making her younger daughter, Ali, the star of the reality show "Living Lohan."

Singer Britney Spears has come a long way since 2006, when she was photographed driving with her then-infant son Sean Preston on her lap rather than strapped in a car seat. Spears defended her actions, saying the paparazzi was chasing her.

Actress Joan Crawford, who adopted five children, had tumultuous relationships with the oldest two, Christina (left) and Christopher. After Crawford's death, Christina wrote the tell-all book "Mommie Dearest," alleging severe physical and emotional abuse at Crawford's hands.

They were all smiles in 2011, but actor Ryan and actress Tatum O'Neal have a bumpy history. In her 2005 biography, Tatum accuses Ryan of allowing his drug dealer to molest her as a child, and alleges neglect and beatings. Ryan was also arrested for assaulting Tatum's brother, Griffin, and in 2008, Ryan and son Redmond were both arrested after methamphetamine was discovered in the home they shared.
