Two powerful women in media are teaming up to encourage other women to pursue their dreams. B98.5 FM "Morning Show" host Vikki Locke and HLN host and author Nancy Grace are partnering on the Women in Media Luncheon benefiting Emerge Scholarships. The event is planned for 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. May 23 at The Estate events facility in Buckhead.

“I would love to see more women in decision-making roles in radio, and perhaps this next generation can do that,” said Locke, who is hosting the event. Grace, the Fulton County prosecutor turned television personality, author (and past “Dancing With the Stars” contender), will serve as keynote speaker.

“She is a firecracker,” Locke said. “She is on board to help empower women through education.”

Emerge, an Atlanta-based charity begun in 2001, provides scholarships to women for whom education is a key but challenging goal in overcoming obstacles in their life and charting a new course for their futures. At this year's scholarship luncheon, held at the Atlanta History Center, scholarship recipients shared moving stories of dealing with family strife, domestic violence, financial straits and other difficulties.

Tables of 10 for the Women in Media luncheon are $1,000. To make your reservation, contact MyraMcElhaney@gmail.com or call 404-431-4690.
