Details continue to emerge about the possible circumstances surrounding Prince's death last month.
While autopsy and toxicology results have not been officially released, some details are being reported.
According to a report in the Minneapolis Star Tribune, the music icon was found with percocet in his system, according to information that is coming out ahead of the autopsy report.
The drug contains acetaminophen and oxycodone and is used to treat pain.
Reports have only theorized about why the singer was taking the medication.
In recent years, Prince was seen walking with a cane and was said to have hip problems.
KSTP reported that the singer also had a dangerously low red blood cell count, which indicates that he was sick.
The reports came in the wake of an announcement that the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the U.S. Attorney's Office are joining the investigation into Prince's death.
The DEA and Attorney's Office came at the request of the Carver County's Sheriff's Office after prescription drug was found in his system.
In response to the reports, the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office released a statement saying it "has not released any information regarding the Prince Rodgers Nelson investigation to anyone, including law enforcement. Results are pending."
"This is an ongoing investigation in partnership with the Carver County's Sheriff's Office. We will have no further comment at this time."
