For The Kid In All Of Us, a charity that serves needy kids in metro Atlanta and beyond, is throwing a special prom-night fundraiser from 5 to 8 p.m. March 20 at the W Atlanta Midtown hotel. The "Project Prom" cocktail party will feature gently used gowns from Becca's Closet, repurposed by the talented young designers at Grady High School's Urban Couture program, led by Vincent Martinez. Designer Jason Bunin and the folks at English Design Laboratory also are lending their expertise to the cause. DJ Vicki Powell will entertain and 97.1. The River host Kaedy Kiely will emcee. The dresses will be modeled by the students who designed them, along with guest model Miss Georgia, Christina McCauley. After the event, the dresses will be donated to teens served by For the Kid in All of Us. Admission is $35 and only 250 tickets will be sold. For more information see forthekid.org.

We've got the inside line on some upcoming appearances. First, expect an announcement today that legendary crooner Tony Bennett will play the Fox Theatre on April 22. Tickets will go on sale Monday. We'll post full details online at blogs.ajc.com/the-buzz as soon as we learn more...Miss America, Teresa Scanlan, will visit American Signature Furniture at 840 Barrett Pkwy. in Kennesaw from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday. She'll be signing autographs, posing for photos and hosting a canned food drive for the Atlanta Community Food Bank...And a member of the Harlem Globetrotters is scheduled to visit a certain Cobb County elementary school this morning. We're not saying which one; it would ruin the surprise! We'll just say that if your school calls an assembly this morning, be ready for anything!

The new Disney film "Mars Needs Moms" held a private screening on Sunday at the Regal Atlantic Station for a number of notable local moms (and dads!) who attended with their children. The crowd enjoying the film included "Real Housewives of Atlanta" cast member Kandi Burruss, CNN producer Keiona Johnson, hip hop artist Roscoe Dash, boutique owner Tameka Raymond and "Meet the Browns" actress Terri J. Vaughn and husband Karon Riley, who all brought their kids to the advance peek. "Mars Needs Moms" opens Friday.
