A new USA show called "Necessary Roughness" will be shooting here and needs extras with attitude. This show is about football players who seek the advice of a tough-but-sensitive counselor. Although filmed here it is set in Long Island, so casting folks need loud-talking, "Jersey-Shore" types with big hair and gold jewelry, as well as club-going party types with lots of style. The casting call, open to anyone, starts at noon today at AMTC, 2000 Powers Ferry Rd. At 9 a.m. at the same location, an open casting call begins for "American Reunion," the latest in the "American Pie" series. For that project, casting crews are looking for spring breakers (wear a bathing suit under your clothes if you're trying out for that role), assorted high school types and parents. You must be 18 and present two forms of legal I.D. Break a leg!

Emily Giffin hosts ‘Something Borrowed' screening
The pink ladies packed the house at the Regal Atlantic Station theater Thursday night for an advance screening of "Something Borrowed," the movie based on Atlanta author Emily Giffin's bestselling novel. The invitation-only crowd had received their instructions -- pink and white attire was "preferred" -- and largely complied. Giffin, in a frilly white frock, introduced the film and later hobnobbed with fans at an after-party at JCT Kitchen. "Romantic comedies should not mean insipid," Giffin told us in an interview before the event. "People are looking for stories like this." The movie, about a sticky love triangle that forms on the eve of a wedding, stars Kate Hudson, Ginnifer Goodwin, Colin Egglesfield and John Krasinski. It was produced by Hilary Swank and Molly Mickler Smith. Smith attended Thursday's event and said "Something Borrowed" is one of her favorite books. Giffin, who has a cheeky cameo, is hoping that the film transcends the chick-lit demographic. "Especially to the men," she said before Thursday's screening, where the theater was filled mostly with women. "Please spread the word to your guy friends!" As fans of her books know, "Something Borrowed" is followed by "Something Blue," and that book has been optioned for the screen as well. "'Something Blue' could follow if this one does well," Giffin said.
