A man accused of stalking performer Miley Cyrus while she filmed the movie 'The Last Song' at Tybee Island has been arrested. He was in the Columbia County Jail Wednesday, the sheriff’s office confirmed.
Mark McLeod, 53, was arrested Tuesday afternoon at his house in Appling on a warrant Tybee Island authorities issued several hours earlier.
McLeod had been told to stay away from Cyrus but police suspect he was back on the island, and near the movie set, on Sunday.
Earlier in the summer, McLeod had made some inappropriate comments to some girls at the movie set, and then screamed obscenities at officers and tried to head-butt one of them as he was being taken to a patrol car, police said.
He was charged with disorderly conduct.
Also, McLeod was reported to be waiting outside a Cyrus book signing event in New York on March 6. And he posted a video clip on the New York Daily news web site professing his love for her and saying they would marry.
McLeod claims Cyrus sent him secret messages through photos and her television show.
