BUFORD
Movies Under the Stars at Mall of Georgia
The 2012 edition of this annual series continues. A new band takes the stage weekly, and a movie follows at dusk when organizers project a popular title on a massive, portable screen. Guests kick back in their lawn chairs and on blankets in the mall's Village lawn. This week's flick is the 2011 Selena Gomez romantic comedy "Monte Carlo." The band Foxes and Fossils kicks off the festivities. The series continues throughout the rest of July with "Glee: The Concert Movie" (July 21) and "Soul Surfer" (July 28).
5 p.m. July 14. Free. Mall of Georgia, 3333 Buford Drive, Buford. 678-482-8788, www.simon.com.
DUNWOODY
'High Society' at North DeKalb Cultural Center
Cole Porter tunes pepper this romantic musical stage comedy by Stage Door Players. When the Lord family plans a wedding for daughter Tracy, they'll have plenty of obstacles to hurdle to make sure the nuptials go off without a hitch. Snooping reporters, ex-husbands and a pest of a little sister all add to the meddlesome mix. Porter classics including "Let's Misbehave," "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" and "True Love" help tell the story.
8 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays; 2:30 p.m. Sundays. July 13-Aug. 5. $12-$26. North DeKalb Cultural Center, 5339 Chamblee Dunwoody Road, Dunwoody. 770-396-1726, www.stagedoorplayers.net.
LAWRENCEVILLE
Lawrenceville Ghost Tours at Aurora Theatre
Since Lawrenceville is one of the oldest cities in metro Atlanta, spooky history is plentiful. And these professional storytellers are ready to dish the paranormal dirt. A costumed storyteller leads the group and adds elements of humor and entertainment into the mix. Guests follow their guide around Lawrenceville's courthouse square and the restored storefronts and listen to tales related to various spots. One such stop, the Old Jail, looks as it did in the 1800s and is known for things that go bump in the night. The tour lasts approximately 90 minutes, and it's a walking trek. The tour begins running nightly in October.
8:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays through September. $12; $9 children. Aurora Theatre, 128 Pike St., Lawrenceville. 678-226-6222, www.scarystroll.com.
