DULUTH
Caboose Days at Southeastern Railway Museum
Get a crash course in cabooses by visiting this museum's special event. It’s all about the car that brings up the rear and often served as the office for the conductor and the living quarters for the crew. Bring the tots or grandkids along for a host of family-friendly activities. Kids can devour cookies and juice on a caboose, decorate themselves with temporary caboose tattoos, go on a caboose hunt for prizes, and learn more by watching a caboose slideshow and creating caboose-themed crafts. The Jr. Model Railroad Club shows off its miniature caboose and the rest of its model train layout. Cough up --more like choo hoo up-- another $3 and take a ride on a full-size caboose.
10 a.m.-5 p.m. March 31 and April 1. $8; $6 seniors age 65 and older; $5 ages 2-12; free ages 1 and younger. Southeastern Railway Museum, 3595 Buford Highway, Duluth. 770-476-2013, www.southeasternrailwaymuseum.org.
DUNWOODY
“Same Time, Next Year” at North DeKalb Cultural Center
It’s one of those endearing romantic stage comedies that still has the timeless charm of that joke-laced valentine you stashed away in a dresser drawer years ago and still read occasionally. Stage Door Players presents Bernard Slade’s yarn about the love affair between Doris (Cara Mantella) and George (Bryan Brendle), whose annual tryst plays out across 25 years. Never mind the fact they’re married to other folks. Tess Malis Kincaid directs. The whole shebang runs approximately two and a half hours including intermission.
8 p.m. Fridays-Saturdays; 2:30 p.m. Sundays. Through April 8. $12-$26. North DeKalb Cultural Center, 5339 Chamblee Dunwoody Road, Dunwoody. 770-396-1726, www.stagedoorplayers.net.
