Presentations and experiences with foodie icons Paula Deen, Bobby Flay and Mario Batali range from $55 to $400. It costs $20 to enter the beer, wine and spirits pavilion. For $30 kids can have a hands-on cooking experience.

ROSWELL

Patio Kickoff Party at Aqua Blue

This restaurant and bar refuses to roll into patio season quietly. It’s making a little noise as the Kristin Tinsley Band plugs in from 7 to 10 p.m. But the bash begins hours earlier with $5 drink specials, including Key lime martinis; $3 bottles of Peroni and Bud Light Golden Wheat; and $6 glasses of wine featuring the likes of Chateau Ste. Michelle chardonnay and Niner merlot. The regular menu will be available, but a selection of tapas materializes for the occasion. Guests can gobble items such as Asian grilled chicken salad, barbecue beef sliders and sushi, ranging from $7 to $12 each.

JOHNS CREEK

Kentucky Derby Celebration at Kozmo Gastro Pub

Derby day gallops for 10 hours at this bar and eatery. Starting at 2 p.m., bartenders will be pouring Kozmo’s own version of the mint julep for $5.50 a pop. The mixologists fashion it with bourbon, mint and simple syrup. And staying in step with the infield tradition of fried chicken consumption, the dish will be sold with sides. The meal can be capped off with a bourbon-glazed bread pudding. Each of those items will be sold a la carte, but Kozmo is offering a special prix fixe meal, including one mint julep, for $20. Since the race goes by in a flash, another competition takes place live. Ladies donning the most outrageous hats will compete for Kozmo gift certificates.

2 p.m. May 1. Free. Kozmo Gastro Pub, 11890 Douglas Road, Johns Creek. 678-526-6094, www.kozmogastropub.com
