FAYETTEVILLE

The Grass Roots at Southern Ground Amphitheater

In the late '60s and early '70s, you'd be hard-pressed to find a jukebox without a record by the Grass Roots. The creation of songwriters P.F. Sloan and Steve Barri, this rotating roster of musicians changed with the frequency of a ball team's starting lineup. Yet, bassist/vocalist Rob Grill was the common thread throughout most of the band's run. And although Grill passed away last year, his estate allows the Grass Roots members Dusty Hanvey, Larry Nelson, Joe Dougherty and Mark Dawson to carry the torch. They'll keep it burning at Southern Ground Amphitheater, dishing out hits including "Let's Live for Today," "Temptation Eyes" and "Midnight Confessions." Final Answer Band opens.

8 p.m. Aug. 18. $15-$25; $400 for tables of eight. Southern Ground Amphitheater, 301 LaFayette Ave., Fayetteville. 770-719-4173, www.southerngroundamp.com.
