The first words of a 79-year-old Michigan woman as she emerged from a five-year semi-coma were, “I want to go to a Bob Seger concert.” And now her wish has come true.
The Flint Journal reports that Evie Branan cheered, threw her hands in the air and danced during Seger’s concert Thursday night at The Palace of Auburn Hills, Mich. She also met Seger and his family, talked with crew and band members and received VIP treatment.
Branan is from Flint Township. She called the night “the happiest I’ve been in a long time.”
After suffering a stroke that left Branan unable to speak, move or eat on her own, she became a resident of Willowbrook manor’s long-term care unit. She awoke from the semi-coma on May 7, 2011.

Jackie Robinson’s daughter says she and her family are excited about a new movie about her father, who broke the color barrier in Major League Baseball.
Sharon Robinson tells The Advocate of Stamford that “42” does a good job of highlighting the resistance and prejudice faced by her father, who died in 1972, and it could help people discuss the lack of equal opportunity.
Robinson, who grew up in Stamford, says that while her father faced stress and turmoil as a trailblazer, he felt great fulfillment raising a family with his wife, Rachel, and raising consciousness about the need for equal rights for blacks and other minorities. Robinson says she and her mother, now, 91, and older brother David are excited about “42,” which opened in theaters Friday.

Lindsay Lohan showed up late for the Hollywood premiere of “Scary Movie 5.”
The 26-year-old actress got a kiss from co-star Charlie Sheen in front of photographers, then told reporters on the arrivals line: “I’m taking care of myself.”
After striking a plea deal in her most recent court case, the troubled actress is set to report to three months of locked rehab next month. She arrived about 20 minutes after the scheduled start of Thursday night’s premiere screening.
Lohan appeared to blame her tardiness on a dress mix-up and smiled when fans chanted her name. “Are they chanting? That’s crazy. That’s insane. It’s like Brazil again. But yeah, my dress was left in New York. But it’s fine,” she told “Extra.”

Kim Kardashian appeared in court Friday for a hearing aimed at settling her divorce case from NBA player Kris Humphries.
The reality star sat in the jury box, hands crossed on her lap, as the case was called. A judge sealed the proceedings, citing rules mandating confidentiality for divorce settlement discussions.
If an agreement cannot be reached, a public trial on the couple’s marriage is schedule to begin on May 6. Humphries, who is seeking an annulment based on his claim the pair’s 72-day marriage was fraudulent, did not appear in court but was represented by three attorneys.
The “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star arrived under heavy security and was brought into the courtroom through a back entrance. Her hair was tied back in a ponytail and she kept her hands crossed on her lap while she listened to Judge Hank Goldberg explain to reporters that the hearing would be closed.
“I always wanted to be a juror,” she joked to deputies before taking her seat.
