Thomas Delton Black, 47, was arrested in Bloomington after cocaine was discovered in his bedroom, police said, during an investigation into the death of musician Scott Weiland.
Weiland, who used to front Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, was found dead inside his tour bus Thursday night while on tour with his current band, Scott Weiland and the Wildabouts, according to police.
“In the course of the investigation, police found a substance that tested positive for cocaine in both Weiland's room on the tour bus and the area occupied by Black,” police said.
Former Stone Temple Pilot bandmates acknowledged Weiland’s history of problems with substance abuse in a statement released Friday.
Eric Kretz and brothers Dean and Robert DeLeo called Weiland “gifted beyond words” and said, "Part of that gift was part of your curse.”
The band's 1992 debut album, "Core," was an instant success, and the hit single "Plush" won the Grammy for best hard rock performance.
