Summer is almost here.

Celebrate the upcoming season by attending a free movie in the park, going to a concert or participating in a parade or festival throughout metro Atlanta. No matter your interests, there are plenty of ways to stay entertained.

Here are our 10 picks for things to do in June:

Attend an outdoor movie series

Going to the movies as a family can be expensive, but there is one way to get in on the fun for free. More than 20 outdoor movies will take place throughout metro Atlanta this summer, so there are plenty of opportunities for families to watch films such as “Zootopia” and “Captain America: Civil War” locally. All you’ll need is a few blankets and snacks to have a good time!

Here are more than 25 places to watch a free movie outdoors in Atlanta.

Atlanta Food & Wine Festival

Southern cuisine will once again be on display in Midtown during the 2016 Atlanta Food & Wine Festival.

Participate in a virtual road trip through some of the South’s top food destinations at American Spirit Works at 7:30 p.m. June 2, watch one of the two-hour Masterclasses on topics such as rare bourbons and wine pairings on June 4 or enjoy a Sunday brunch with menu items from more than 15 chefs and mixologists at Loews Atlanta Hotel while listening to live music at noon June 5.

This year’s attendees will also get to explore a “pop-up vineyard and event space,” inspired by McGuigan Wines Dublin City Vineyard. At noon June 3, the space will host a “Grapes From A-Z Wine Luncheon.” Tickets for this event are $100.

Attendees must be 21 or older.

Candler Park Music and Food Festival

While many food festivals offer live music, the Candler Park Music and Food Festival elevates the performances to the same level as the delicious food it showcases.

Galactic, Chris Robinson Brotherhood and the Revivalists are among the 10 bands that have been announced as performers during the two-day event.

Attendees will select food items from more than 20 local food trucks and vendors before settling in to hear live music or exploring the artist market and the Atlanta Sport & Social Club Game Zone.

Dolly Parton

Country music superstar Dolly Parton will bring her signature style and hit music to the Infinite Energy Center this month. Revisit the Country Music Hall of Fame artists’ extensive catalog at the show, which is a part of Parton’s first tour in more than 25 years.

Summerfest 2016

Looking for a summer festival to attend this month? Summerfest by the Virginian-Highland Civic Association is a great way to celebrate the first weekend in June.

The two-day free festival will feature an artist market, showcasing original pieces from more than 250 artists from throughout the southeast. Stroll along Virginia Avenue while taking in the diverse forms of art that will be available for sale at various price points. Then, head to the main or acoustic music stage to hear live music from bands such as Americana duo City Mouse.

Flying Colors Butterfly Festival

The Chattahoochee Nature Center will host the 17th annual Flying Colors Butterfly Festival on June 4 and 5. The two-day festival will feature hundreds of butterflies as a part of the fundraising event for the center. Tour the Butterfly Garden, buy plants and participate in a butterfly costume parade. Food trucks will be at this event. Face painting and crafts will also be available once your kids get tired of chasing butterflies.

Birthday Bash

Atlanta hip-hop will be on display on June 18 at Philips Arena. T.I., Jeezy, Rich Homie Quan and Migos have all been announced as performers for Hot 107.9’s annual Birthday Bash concert. Prior to the star-studded arena event, a smaller concert, known as the “Birthday Bash ATL Classic Hip-Hop Concert” will take place at the Tabernacle with 8 Ball & MJG, Shawty Lo and Trina as performers on June 17.

Juneteenth Atlanta Parade & Music Festival

Celebrate Juneteenth, the annual celebration of the emancipation of slaves in the United States, this month with a parade and music festival at Morris Brown College. The three-day event will celebrate African-American history will panels, arts and crafts, live entertainment, multi-cultural cuisine and more.

“The Wizard of Oz” at Fox Theatre

This new production of “The Wizard of Oz” is based on the popular 1939 film, and features all of the classic songs that have become synonymous with the story of Dorothy and the friends she meets in Oz on her quest for home.

Old Forth Ward Arts Festival

Historic Fourth Ward Park will host a two-day festival this month. Up to 150 artists will display their work in various mediums at the Old Fourth Ward Arts Festival while attendees dine on festival food and listen to live music.
