If you are still torn about where to take dad for Father's Day, Zoo Atlanta suggests some quality time with a seasoned gorilla.
Ozzie, a western lowland gorilla, turns 53 this year, and the Zoo is celebrating his birthday on Sunday, June 15.
In announcing the birthday party, the Zoo noted that the popular gorilla, a celebrity within Zoo Atlanta's Ford African Rain Forest, has 10 surviving children, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. And at 53, he is the oldest living male in western lowland gorilla circles. Gorillas are considered old at about 35. He has been part of the zoo since the 1980s.
Ozzie’s birthday celebration will be 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Gorilla Habitat Two.
Human fathers get free admission to the zoo on Sunday with the purchase of any regular price child or adult general admission ticket.
