FRIDAY
Kids, visual arts: "Young Architects: Designing the Future" is an interactive exhibit inspired by famous architects. It runs through Jan. 19 at the Gwinnett Environmental & Heritage Center in Buford.
Visual arts: "Georgia Nature Photographers' Association: The Art of the Landscape" is on view at the Chattahoochee Nature Center through Feb. 15.
Stage: In this bilingual Mexican folktale "Brother Coyote and Sister Fox," Brother Coyote conspires to eat Doña Conchita's plump chickens, but Sister Fox is one step ahead. The Thistle Theatre of Seattle production runs through Jan. 27 at the Center for Puppetry Arts.
Performing arts: Georgia Ensemble Theatre presents the premiere of "Swell Party," a new mystery by Atlanta playwright Topher Payne. It continues through Jan. 27 at the Roswell Cultural Arts Center. The play is part of a round-up of upcoming productions on Atlanta stages.
Stage: "Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson" is a re-imagining of our seventh president as a rock 'n roll maverick. The Actor's Express continues through Feb. 17. The play is part of a round-up of upcoming productions on Atlanta stages.
Stage: Horizon Theatre Company presents an encore run of its successful 2011 show "The Waffle Palace: Smothered, Covered & Scattered 24/7/365." It runs through Feb. 17.
Stage: The Atlanta Shakespeare Company presents "The Tempest," the bard's tale of a magical island. It continues through Jan. 27. at the New American Shakespeare Tavern.
Comedy: Dave Foley has been a member of the comedy troupe "Kids in the Hall," appeared in many sitcoms (including a leading role on "Newsradio") and provided the voice of many animated characters. He also does stand-up comedy, which beings him to the Laughing Skull Lounge Jan. 17-20.
Music: Canadian singer-songwriter Fred Eaglesmith takes the stage at Eddie's Attic at 8 p.m. Jan. 18
Music: British singer-songwriter Ellie Goulding, who hit No. 2 on the pop charts with "Lights" in 2012, will perform at the Tabernacle at 8 p.m. Jan. 18.
Stage: Secrets are revealed when a blues musician returns home to his father and son after nine years in "Sins of the Father." The premiere is presented by New African Grove Theatre Company Jan. 18-20 at the Southwest Arts Center.
Stage: A blind woman is terrorized in the frightening thriller "Wait Until Dark," which runs Jan. 18-27 at New London Theatre in Snellville.
Stage: From "The View" to "30 Rock," Sherri Shepherd is a frequent presence on television. Now you can see her doing stand-up comedy on stage at the Punchline Jan. 18-19.
SATURDAY
Visual arts: See work by Cumberland Island jewelry designer Janet "Gogo" Ferguson as the High Museum of Art presents "Gogo: Nature Transformed," which opens Jan. 19 and continues through July 7. Check out the story behind the work.
Recreation: Hit the slopes at Snow Mountain, where it's always a winter wonderland. The annual attraction at Stone Mountain Park continues through Feb. 18.
Families, festival: They'll have a train-themed story time, railroad music, vendors selling a variety of train-related items and lots more at "Trains, Trains, Trains" at the Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History in Kennesaw. The fun begins at 9:30 a.m. Jan. 19.
Families, recreation: Slither on over to Reptile Day at the Chattahoochee Nature Center in Roswell. The activities start at noon Jan. 19.
Music: Organist and former Atlantan Ahreum Han makes her Spivey Hall debut with a program that includes works by Bach and Vierne. The concert begins at 3 p.m. Jan. 19.
Music: Yacht Rock Revue and Friends will perform Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon," the soundtrack to "Easy Rider" and XTC's "Black Sea" beginning at 8:30 p.m. Jan. 19 at Variety Playhouse.

Comedy: The Queen of Mean Lisa Lampanelli, always a hit at celebrity roasts, hits the stage at the Tabernacle at 7 p.m. Jan. 19.
Stage: Company J presents the beloved musical "Fiddler on the Roof" at the Marcus Jewish Community Center in Dunwoody Jan. 19-Feb. 3.
Visual arts: "Small Jewels" offers selected small works by 21 local artists, all priced under $200. The show opens with a free reception at 6 p.m. Jan. 19 at Decatur Market & Gallery.
SUNDAY
Music: Grammy-winning Canadian singer, songwriter and hitmaker Bryan Adams plays the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre at 8 p.m. Jan. 20.
Music: Country legend Willie Nelson returns to Atlanta, bringing along his son and show opener Lukas Nelson and the Promise of the Real. The show starts at 8 p.m. Jan. 20 at the Tabernacle.
MONDAY
March, holiday: Celebrate the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. at the King Holiday March and Rally. Assembly is at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 21 at Peachtree and Baker streets and the march begins at 2 p.m.
Free admission: The Atlanta History Center will offer free admission in celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day and the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau's 100 Years of Hospitality. The center opens at 10 a.m. Jan. 21.
Holiday, kids: Imagine It! The Children's Museum of Atlanta offers a Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Celebration at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 21.
Music: Ed Sheeran impressed the crowds at the Star 94 Jingle Jam back in December and now he returns as the headliner at the Tabernacle. Openers Foy Vance and Rizzle Kicks will open the show, which gets under way at 7 p.m. Jan. 21.
