Britney Spears will return to the MTV Video Music Awards stage later this month, according to a new promo released by the singer and MTV.

The promo, which features a popular -- but explicit -- tagline that comes from the singer's 2007 hit "Gimme More," also has notes of Spears' past VMA performances.

Most notably, a large python slithers through different mementos from the singer's always talked-about VMA moments.

Spears appeared with an albino Burmese python at the 2001 VMAs, when she performed "I'm a Slave 4 U."

The python also slithers past a veil in a nod to Spears' 2003 performance with Madonna, Christina Aguilera and Missy Elliot in which she famously kissed Madonna.

This year, Spears' appearance is likely part of a promo for her new album "Glory," which will be released  Aug. 26. The performance will be her first at the VMAs since 2007.

The VMAs air live on MTV on Aug. 28.
