Atlanta was the place to be Thursday as actor Brad Pitt and Brooke Burke from "Dancing With the Stars" made a visit. Why were they in town? Find out.

Brad Pitt, star and producer of the apocalyptic thriller WORLD WAR Z, made a surprise appearance at a special early fan screening at Regal Atlantic Station.

Brooke Burke-Charvet, co-host of the Emmy-nominated Dancing With The Stars, teamed up with Purina Cat Chow to help kick-off renovations of the cat-care facilities at Fulton County Animal Services (FCAS). Purina Cat Chow is donating $30,000 to improve FCAS’s Cat Adoption Room, adoption counseling room, lobby and customer service areas. The renovation is part of the Purina Cat Chow “50 Years. 50 Shelters.” program that will support 50 cat-focused shelters nationwide – one in every state – and donate up to $200,000 in product and monetary aide to acknowledge these shelters’ dedication to the cats they serve and help facilitate the start of more cat-owner relationships.

The renovations at FCAS will completely transform the current Cat Adoption Room and adoption counseling offices to create a free-roaming cat area with a picture window that allows visitors to view the cats upon entering the building’s main lobby. The new free-roaming Cat Adoption Room will feature custom cat play structures, lounge spaces and seating for potential adopters to visit with the cats. There will also be caging to isolate cats if needed. The room will include an open work space for four adoption specialists to meet and interact with potential adopters. The renovations will also impact the lobby entrance with an open window to the customer service area as well as new paint and furniture for the lobby and customer service areas. In addition to the monetary donation, Purina Cat Chow is supporting the renovation with a team of 15 volunteers to help complete the work.

The shelter is dedicated to giving the homeless pets of Fulton County and Atlanta a new lease on life. The organization serves the lost, abandoned and unwanted pets throughout Fulton County. Each year, FCAS supports more than 10,000 adoptable pets, including more than 2,300 cats. FCAS is managed by Lifeline Animal Project, a non-profit corporation under contract with Fulton County to provide animal care and control services. With these renovations, FCAS looks to increase cat adoptions by 30 percent.

Burke spent some time playing with the cats before grabbing a paint brush and helping out.
