Bill Cosby's speech opens national conference

BILL COSBY delivered a speech Thursday at the Boys and Girls Clubs of America national conference at Atlanta's Hyatt Regency.

COZ TOOK the stage as activist rather than comedian. He spoke to the crowd about the importance of education for children.

HE ADDRESSED teen pregnancy and other problems that frequently befall the African-American community.

COSBY'S 2007 book is called "Come on, People: On the Path from Victims to Victors."

THOUGH KNOWN primarily as "TV's favorite dad," Cosby has lately voiced some controversial opinions regarding African-Americans.

MODERATOR Susan Goings listens to the comments. Cosby said jokingly that she had "a rough job" moderating him.
