It has been a week of surprises for Beyonce fans.
Days after her surprising, somewhat controversial performance with the Dixie Chicks at the CMAs Wednesday, the singer performed a six-song set at a Hillary Clinton event at Cleveland State University's Wolstein Center in Cleveland, Ohio.
Chatter about Beyonce performing emerged as the event got closer. Her husband, rapper Jay Z, had been confirmed as a performer at the Get Out the Vote free concert event by a Clinton aide Wednesday.
Beyonce surprised guests last, after Jay, Big Sean and Chance the Rapper performed their own sets.
She started her set with "Formation," which was the surprise lead single from her latest album "Lemonade."
She was accompanied by dancers wearing royal blue pantsuits and "I'm with her" T-shirts.
After her first song, Beyonce spoke to the crowd about making history by voting and electing the first woman president after making history by electing the first African American president.
"Less than 100 years ago, women did not have the right to vote," she said. "Look how far we’ve come from having no voice to being on the brink of history ... I want my daughter to grow up seeing a womna run the country."
"We have to think about the future of our daughters, our sons, and vote for someone who believes in them. We have to vote for someone who cares as much about them as we do. That's why I'm with her."
As the singer performed, messages appeared on the screen behind her and the dancers encouraging event goers to vote.
The set closed with "Who Run The World (Girls)" before Beyonce returned to the stage with Jay Z for "Holy Grail," which he originally performed with Justin Timberlake.
