Tuesday, by day-of-the-week standards, is kind of lame. While Monday has a reputation for being miserable, Wednesday proudly holds the hump-day throne and the rest exist in various forms of weekend, Tuesday mostly offers a hefty dose of vanilla. It is essentially the Delaware of days. Still, there is a handful of entertaining events, particularly at dive bars, each Tuesday in Atlanta. Here are some of the highlights:

Government in Exile at Manuel's Tavern

Around 1982, then-mayor Maynard Jackson's staff began to meet for happy hour at Manuel's Tavern, the legendary Virginia-Highland dive bar. The original group made a habit of blowing off steam together each Tuesday at the bar. At one point, the group gave themselves an intellectually amusing name -- Government in Exile -- and went about the business of making armchair philosophy the standard of Tuesday discourse at Manuel's. That is, until reports surfaced that a shadowy group of power brokers was hanging around the tavern making designs on the city. Though the group was little more than a real-life hybrid of television shows "Cheers" and "Friends," rumors continued for years that these meetings were actually the ill-intentioned strategy sessions of a secret society. More than 30 years later, and with no sweeping governmental strategy enacted (that you know of) from within the bar's walls, the GIE is a 6 p.m. Tuesday fixture.

Cheap beer

On Tuesday nights, the Virginia-Highland dive bar Moe's & Joe's offer pitchers of beer for $3.50. There is no bell signaling the end of some kind of barroom competition, no timer by which to hurry an order in, no bathroom breaks to put off in the name of Game of Thrones. Just $3.50 pitchers of beer.

Cast off any remaining cobwebs or bad karma from Monday at the Star Bar's weekly dance party. Feeling a little shy? Don’t worry, help yourself to one or more of the following: $5 margaritas, $4 well drinks and shots, $3 16 oz. PBR, $2 PBR draft. There’s no cover but bring an ID and be 21 or over.

Karaoke at the Clermont Lounge

If spectacle is what you seek, look no further than karaoke night at the Clermont Lounge. The reputation of the basement-situated adult entertainment mecca is already the stuff of legend. So it stands to reason that the sights and sounds of karaoke night within such hallowed walls would be even more Clermont-y. On karaoke night, the girls keep dancing, but with one subtle difference: Those ample, if not creaky, hip gyrations are performed in a shared rhythm with your interpretation of the "Ignition: Remix."
