The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Decatur Book Festival is the largest independent book festival in the country, and the fourth largest overall. The eighth annual event will be Aug. 30-Sept. 1

Over Labor Day weekend, tens of thousands of people from metro Atlanta will share the historic downtown Decatur Square with world-class authors, illustrators, editors, publishers and booksellers for a weekend filled with literature, music, food and fun.

The AJC joined the Decatur Book Festival in 2006 – the inaugural year of the event. The local festival is an annual tradition and treasured event for the newspaper and its readers to celebrate both literacy and the arts. This year alone 50 authors will launch their books at the AJC Decatur Book Festival.

A highlight of this year’s celebration includes a special visit by Rep. John Lewis. The congressman and civil rights legend will sign his graphic novel at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, exclusively at the AJC’s hospitality tent.
