The High Museum joins the growing list of local attractions that will close early in anticipation of inclement winter weather.

High Museum of Art officials say the museum will close at 3 p.m. today and are planning to delay opening tomorrow until noon.

This means the museum’s monthly First Friday event is cancelled.

While heavy amounts of snow aren't expected until later tonight, Gov. Nathan Deal has issued a state of emergency, beginning at noon.  Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed said his goal is to have everyone off the roads by 4 p.m.

The Georgia Emergency Management Agency advised residents to prepare to stay at home for at least three days.
