Atlanta rapper Offset reunited with his father this weekend, after not having seen the man in 23 years.
Offset, whose real name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus, posted video of their tearful meeting on Instagram on Saturday. The two men embrace, shake hands, then embrace again.
“DREAMS DO COME TRUE HAVENT SEEN MY FATHER IN 23 YEARS !!!!!! AND I STILL LOVE HIM,” Offset wrote.
“THE PAST IS THE PAST AND THE PRESENT IS ALL WE HAVE TO RELY ON WE NOT PERFECT IN ANY SHAPE OR FORM I LOVE YOU POPS !!! NO MATTER WHAT!!!!” he continued.
During an appearance on Power 105.1’s the Breakfast Show, the Migos member revealed he was 4 years old when he last saw his father.
“I know how it be. You can either let the streets take you away or you can kick in with your family,” he told the radio show hosts. “A lot of folks, the streets took them away from their momma, their grandmomma, their everything. So I’ve just been on the other side, too. I’ve been a father that was locked up, trippin, not really focused on life goals, not really focusing on taking care of the kids.”
He posted a photo from that time late Sunday.
“LAST TIME I SEEN MY DADDY,” he wrote. “GOD IS AMAZING.”
