Nearly halfway into her set, Schumer started talking about politics and at one point called Trump an "orange, sexual-assaulting, fake-college-starting monster." Audience members weren't too happy with her jokes, and some started booing her, while others walked out.

Schumer, 35, read an open letter with a tongue-in-cheek apology to the upset fans in Tampa while at her Madison Square Garden show two days later in New York City.

“Dearest Tampa, I’m sorry you didn’t want me — a comedian who talks about what she believes in — to mention the biggest thing going on in our country right now,” Schumer told her fans. “How did I think it was OK to spend five minutes having a peaceful conversation with someone with different views?”

Schumer thanked her fans who attended her show in Tampa and those who were in the audience at Madison Square Garden.
