JOHNS CREEK

Johns Creek Fall Poetry Festival at Northeast/Spruill Oaks Library

Fans of expressive verse join together like rhyming stanzas at this fourth annual event. Georgia Poet Laureate Judson Mitcham is the keynote speaker and will be signing books on site. A total of seven authors will have their books on display. Poet Lavonne Westbrooks wrangles the Children’s Poetry Circle, which allows young ones the chance to appreciate the art. A poetry book fair, open mic readings and more fill the morning and early afternoon. Those wondering about lunch have the opportunity to munch. Members of the Johns Creek Poetry Group, which hosts the event, are providing meals at $5 a pop.

10:15 a.m. Nov. 17. Free. Northeast/Spruill Oaks Library, 9560 Spruill Road, Johns Creek. 770-360-8820.

BUFORD

The Revival’s Vintage Marketplace at Tannery Row Artist Colony

Some shoppers will be getting a jump on the holiday retail crunch at this bi-annual market. Vendors ranging from local to national offer vintage items and their own creations. This runs the gamut from clothing to furniture to architectural salvage. The sounds of live music drift into the ears of guests, who can fuel up on the vintage-inspired snacks for sale. If you’re bitten by the do-it-yourself bug while shopping, experts will share tips and tricks during seminars. Tannery Row is quite the relic itself. Built as a shoe factory in 1919, it served as a shoe-repair factory during WWII.

9 a.m.-5 p.m. Nov. 17; 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Nov. 18. $5; free ages 11 and younger. Tannery Row Artist Colony, 554 W. Main St., Buford. www.therevivalofvintage.com.

NEWNAN

“November” at Newnan Theatre Company

If you can’t shake off the hangover from all of that election action, might as well continue the political party with a performance of “November.” Acclaimed playwright David Mamet penned this White House satire about a down-on-his-luck President making a last-ditch effort to get re-elected. The play’s term will be over soon, so interested citizens should take advantage. Keep in mind it includes mature content and language, so leave the tiny future politicos at home.

8 p.m. Nov. 15-17; 3 p.m. Nov. 18. $8-$14. Newnan Theatre, 24 First Ave., Newnan. 770-683-6282, www.newnantheatre.org.
